Juna Pulayya, MFT

About Junior:

My parents came to the United States in their early twenties from Guyana, South America. Mental health and counseling was not something discussed in my home growing up and so I just dealt with my emotions on my own. I think this experience is part of what draws me to the field of counseling. I believe everyone should engage in self-care and take care of their own mental health; this needs to be something everyone is comfortable seeking if needed. I spent over ten years working in the field of family law, assisting families with some of the most difficult times and found my passion to assist others to navigate through the most difficult times in their lives.

Education:

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Florida and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Secondary Social Science Education. Shortly after I began teaching I started a post doctorate degree part time while teaching and ended up earning my juris doctorate from Florida A&M, College of Law. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling from Stetson University. I am Level I Gotham training to assist couples.

Experience:

Prior to counseling, I earned my juris doctorate and spent approximately ten years working with families going through some of the most difficult times as they navigated the legal system.
